Almost Done!

Hello! It has been a while since I have blogged. Thats because we have been super busy with school and work. However, we are both excited because we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the semester is almost over! We both have turned in our major assignments and projects and just need to make it through finals week. Luckily I only have one "real" final, and Gare is feeling pretty confident about his.  I  am really enjoying the elementary education program at UVU. I finished up my "field experience" last month and had such a great experience. My cooperating teacher and my field partner were great to work with. I feel super lucky because when we got back to class I herd some horror stories about crazy cooperating teachers and terrible field partners. I got lucky, and the 5th grade class we got to teach was just chuck full of cute kiddos. After this experience I know that I am definitely on the right career path, I just love it :]] We were at the elementary school for a half day every day for the month of November. Our last day was right before the kids left for Thanksgiving break, so we had a feast/goodbye party for the student teachers. We ate "turkey stew", corn bread, apple juice, and dessert. The students got to choose three leaves from the table and write three things they were thankful for, it melted my heart that every student put "cool/awesome/nice/pretty student teachers" on one of their leaves :]]

I also have finished a book series; Midnighters, and I loved them! They were a quick easy read and the story was really original unlike anything I have ever read before. I had crazy dreams while reading these books, where I was one of the Midnighters! Haha that must mean they are good right? Anyway they are written by Scott Westerfeld who also wrote the Uglies series, which I also loved, so I would definitely recommend them :]]

Hello again. . .

Welp, I have been slackin' with the blog :/ Oops. Oh well I am here now and am ready to document what has been going on in our busy little lives :]] We are still supper busy with school and work. I just started my "field experience" which is like mini student teaching. My partner and I are in a 5th grade class at Barrett Elementary. So far it has been great! The students love us and we have a great supervising teacher.  Gare is still working at the group home, going to class at the UofU 2 days a week and is doing his practicum at an alternative high school 2 days out of the week, he is the "intern counselor" he loves it. Gare also has a new obsession, he got an "early birthday present" from my mom cause he is spoiled. He has had his eye on this weber grill for months and when it went on sale he couldn't take it anymore and bought the thing, haha my mom reimburse him the money and said it could be his birthday present. What a nice mother-in-law :]] Anyway Gare has been BBQing up a storm, and let me tell you it is tasty. So far he has made pulled pork, ribs, chicken, burgers, corn, asparagus, and steak. He is so cute :]] Here is a picture of his beloved bbq...

I also have a new obsession, her name is Charlotte, but I call her Lottie for short. She is my new MacBook Pro, and we are best of friends. She is beautiful and can do amazing things. She helps me with my homework and keeps me entertained! Here is what she looks like in her lovely "peacock" case :]] Yes I know I am a dork haha.

We have also been having a blast at my brother's hockey games! It is so fun to watch him play. One of his last games was against Utah State, they are ranked #1 so it was a pretty big game. It was so crazy!! Fights were breakin' out all over the place. Towards the very end of the game every single player was out on the ice in a massive brawl, even the goalies! Haha it was insane, we lost but it was still a good game :]]

#3 Cade in the box

I have also been doing a lot of reading I am almost done with "The Pretty Little Liars" series I am more than half way done with the last book! I love them, I also stumbled upon this book the other day in the library. . .

It is hysterical! I can't put it down! I have been cooped up in the house for 3 days with bronchitis, so I am very happy that I have this book by my side :]] It is so funny people, and very interesting to see what life is like for a young single mormon living in Manhattan. I love it!  Oh, remember how I mention that I have been cooped up in this tiny basement apartment for three days? Well last night I couldn't take it anymore and made Garett take me to Joannes. Gare's blanket that I made for him over a year ago is kinda disgusting so I wanted to make him a new one. Well like always I left Joannes with more than I came in for. I ended up with a new blanket for Gare. . . and for me :]] Look how cute . . .

So I finally finished this series, and I loved them! Basically they are about this future society and everyone gets this operation when they turn 16 to make them "pretty". It is basically just craziness I wonder what our world really will be like in a couple hundred/thousand years :]] Anywho I would highly recommend them they are fun easy reads. I think I am going to read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo next, any thoughts or suggestions?

The Help

Alright I finished The Help the other day and I absolutely loved it! I am so excited they are making it into a movie, and guess what?! Emma Stone plays Miss Skeeter! I love her, I can't wait I hope it will be as good as the book, or almost as good :]] Anyway, now I am on to my next book, I have decided to read Uglies.

Recent Reads

I finished reading I Am Number Four last week. I guess it is the first book of a planned six book series. I liked it and all but I don't know if I liked it enough to read six more books about it haha. The movie does come out next month so maybe they will just keep making the movies and I can watch those to see what happens.

I also had to read The Giver for my Children Literature class, so that's what I have spent my Sunday doing, lounging and reading. Not a bad way to spend your day I might add :]] Anyway, I thought it was a very strange book, especially it being intended for kids in the 5th and 6th grades. Don't get me wrong I really liked it, there were a lot of lessons to be learned from it, and it was very well written. But, I just don't know how kids would feel about it, I can't picture myself reading it in elementary school. Any teachers out there who have tried this with their kids? Or anybody who remembers reading this when you were in elementary school?

And lastly, I am out of books to read now and am in need of some good suggestions, so please leave a comment of some good books, even if you have already told me before so that I can write them down :]]

Finished!

 

I am finally finished reading the Hunger Games Series! I absolutely loved these books, almost as much as twilight. I couldn't stop reading them, and can I just say that Katnis Everdeen is a stud! I totally want to be her, and I am so so so very happy that she ended up with Peeta! Ah, I just loved reading these, in fact, I have made it one of my New Years Resolutions to read more . . . my next read is "I am Number Four" by Pittacus Lore. Has anyone read this? Let me know if you have, I am pretty excited :]]
