Girls Trip!

Freezin' for a reason!

 Last weekend my mom and I ventured down to good ol' Cedar City to visit Steph and the girls. The whole reason for the trip was so that my mom could do the Polar Plunge with Steph. They are crazy, they jumped into a freezing lake right behind Stephs house to raise money for the Special Olympics.

I also got to see Shay and Shaun in action. Shay with her basketball game and Shaunie and her gymnastics. They rock! Shays team won like 35-11 and Shaun is getting so good in the gym, the girl can do double backs and a full-in and can swing giants on the bar!

I also spent a good portion of the weekend reading this, and it is so good! I can't believe the stuff that goes on in the book and that stuff like it actually happened! It is so good, I feel like I am watching a movie rather that reading it is so well written. Read it people. Oh and when I got home Carolyn and I did this. . .

Recent Reads

I finished reading I Am Number Four last week. I guess it is the first book of a planned six book series. I liked it and all but I don't know if I liked it enough to read six more books about it haha. The movie does come out next month so maybe they will just keep making the movies and I can watch those to see what happens.

I also had to read The Giver for my Children Literature class, so that's what I have spent my Sunday doing, lounging and reading. Not a bad way to spend your day I might add :]] Anyway, I thought it was a very strange book, especially it being intended for kids in the 5th and 6th grades. Don't get me wrong I really liked it, there were a lot of lessons to be learned from it, and it was very well written. But, I just don't know how kids would feel about it, I can't picture myself reading it in elementary school. Any teachers out there who have tried this with their kids? Or anybody who remembers reading this when you were in elementary school?

And lastly, I am out of books to read now and am in need of some good suggestions, so please leave a comment of some good books, even if you have already told me before so that I can write them down :]]

Obsession cont.

Ok so after I did my last blog post, I decided to do a little blog stalking. Don't judge me, I know you all do it too :]] Anyway, I came across another super cute way to make flowers for headbands! They are called Yo-Yos, and I am in love.  I started going though the tutorial found HERE and I was super sad when I saw that it required hand stitching. I feel like I have never mastered this skill, I always just end up all tangled up and in a mess. But, I thought they were so cute and I am on this crafty kick and I had some left over fabric in my craft box sooooo. . .  I went for it! Turns out it is super easy and fun. I made three of them, added a button and some pearls to the centers and then hot glued them to a headband. Hooray!

Obsession

So lately I have had this crazy obsession with being crafty! Like, I feel the urge to go to Robert's or JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby everyday! Just to see if they have anything fun for me to make. Well the other day I found these cute letters at Robert's, I was super excited about them here is how the finished product turned out. . .

 

You like?? The letters and the base were originally white so I decided to paint them brown. Then I collected some cute scrapbook paper to modge podge onto the front of the letters and to make the paper flowers :]] I like it, my favorite letter is the O with the cute bow. I also have been making more rosette headbands I wanted to experiment with some different types of fabric, so I picked up some lace at the fabric store for way cheep. What do ya think. . . ?

Anyways, this is what I have been up to lately along with going to school and Job hunting. I had two interviews today!! Hopefully something will come around soon because Garett said that if I get a job then I can get a Kindle and a cute pink case! Haha I really do want a job though people, I am hoping to get one somewhere in an elementary school so that I can be working with kids! We will see, pray for me :]]

What?! Stop! Rewind. . . .

Lately I have been getting frustrated with all the things that I don't have, and have not yet accomplished. I want to be done with school and into my career, and I want the same for Garett. I want to be financially stable enough so that we can have our own house with enough room for cute kittens, and maybe a baby or two or three, I really want a kitten, or a baby. And there are more things of course, but that is where I usually stop my self. What am I thinking? I have so much in my life currently to be grateful and happy for. . .

1. My sweet, tender hearted husband who would do anything for me, and does.
2. A cute little apartment that is perfect for the stage we are at in our lives.
3. Amazing family and friends that support us in EVERYTHING we do, I would be nowhere with out them.
4. The opportunity I have to go to school and get my education, so that one day I will be the BEST teacher ever!
5. And, and awesome ward that has welcomed us with open arms.

I'd say that's a lot to be grateful for! I just need to keep reminding myself to slow down, and that this is exactly where I want to be right now :]] I love my life, even without the job, the house, or the kitten/baby. I know they will come eventually.

Gettin' Crafty :]]

Carolyn and I have been wanting to get our craft on for a while now, so when our husbands were getting together to watch the Seahawks game, we decided to go for it! Our craft? Cute floral headbands, I have seen so many girls wear these and I am in love! I have been wanting to buy some for a long time, problem, they sell for 10-20 bucks. No thanks, I think I will make some myself. Car and I ventured off to Joannes to pick out some cute fabrics, and when we got back we got to work. It started off a little tricky, we couldn't figure how to start the center of the flower, soon enough we got the hang of it and were on a roll! I made three headbands and Car made two what do ya think. . . ?

 It turned out to be so easy! Its just a method of folding and turning the fabric to create the rose and you simply use hot glue to hold it together and attach it to the headband. We wrapped our headbands with matching ribbon for a more polished look, I think they turned out great. Better yet, they only cost about $2.00 each to make! I am thinking about making one for every outfit :]]

These ones are mine, I like the pink one the best :]]
